Our History

Centreville Regional Library reached out to the community in 2019 to find volunteers willing to take on the establishment and operations of a Friends group for the library. The Friends of the Centreville Regional Library, Inc (FCRL) was incorporated on September 6, 2019 and obtained its non-profit status in October 2019.

FCRL began with a small, all volunteer team that set up the procedures for selling incoming book donations to benefit the Centreville Library. Despite some setbacks from the COVID pandemic, the work of FCRL has grown tremendously – our efforts include the management of an area of ongoing book sale shelves in the library, as well as the sales of donated books online. Our largest events are multi-day book sales we host at the library each year.

From FCRL beginnings in 2019, over $95,000 in book sales has been collected, with all donations going Fairfax County Library activities.  In addition to our direct support to Centreville Library's programs and events, we also provide sponsorship of the Fairfax Library Foundation (FLF) Scholarship and the Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL) Annual Children's Reading Festival.

Thank you to all in the community who support FCRL efforts!
